Gertie's Party for Better Sewing

Happy Monday mes amis! Hoping everyone had a fab weekend. I had a great Sunday,  popping by
SewLA to pick up Gretchen Hirsch's new book, Gertie's New Book For Better Sewing. Although
retro 50's isn't my time period of choice, (I am more of a 30's/ 40's girl..) I found the book full of
useful couture and tailoring techniques. I was not able to get any good pics of the contents of the book,
but I am very exited about making a few of the projects (pictured above on manikins and hangers.)
Gretchen was as nice as could be to meet, and there was an awesome photo booth I was feeling too
under dressed to partake in.  It also reminded me of a book that I have which was published in 1952 called Sewing With Distinction, A Picture Reference Sewing Course by Sears Roebuck and Co. which is fantastic and covers everything from basic construction to baby clothes. I will post some decent scans soon.
Gretchen's vintage style inspired me to delve more into my love for vintage and bid on some lovely 30's and 40's patterns on ebay. More to come on those as well. To wrap it up even if you are not a 50's glam gal this is a great book to own!
