Love It

Bonne Friday mes amis! Today I am sharing with you a new website called
love it. It is similar to Pintrest but better! (I may be biased, my man is one
of the engineers working on the project..) Check it out here and sign up with
Facebook, you can follow me here. Above are a few images from my Places to Go collection,
The Louvre in Paris, Venice, Italy and Marfa, Texas. Are any of you planning any fun
trips this summer? I would love to hear...

Sew LA

Shaerie, owner and sewing teacher Sew LA.

My new pattern purchases from Sew LA. Very exited.

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of checking out the Atwater Village shop Sew LA. What a great experience! The owner Shaerie was as helpful as can be, and I was in love with the selection of patterns.
I ended up with a Collette Macaron pattern as well as a new pattern by Christine Haynes, the Derby.
If you are in the area please go visit this sewing heaven. They also offer really great classes!

Small Objects

Aren't these cake toppers adorable? They are from the one woman show Sarah Neuburger,
aka Small Objects. Each topper is custom made per bride and groom, if you are planning
a wedding you should check out her website here. The last image is of a dress she made,
Vogue 8755. Add this to the list of things that I want to make, I love how she made it
out of lightweight linen!

Again..

Hoping everyone had a fun filled, relaxing weekend! I tried Built by Wendy 3692 again
in a drapier fabric (silk crepe de chine), and I think that the result is pretty nice. I like
the look of this dress with the long sleeves better, the gathered cuff being just a bit more
romantic. The only thing I would change is that I got a little over zealus when I was hemming,
a few more inches added to the bottom might be nice. Over all I think that this is a great
pattern, and I will definitely be using it again!

Collars

Happy Friday friends! I bring to you today a picture of a lovely floral peter pan collar for sale on Etsy
(unfortunately already sold).. but I love this idea of making a vintage looking detached
collar. It reminds me of the cute sailor collar (pictured above) that Anabela from Fieldguided
made for bike riding. It has a reflective tape stripe. So clever!

Sketch Book Thursday

 Dior

 Jill Sander

 Celine

The above sketch is of adjustments I would like to make to patterns that I have.
The others are just some random runway sketches I have been working on.
Of course I chose to draw all of the pinkish
colored ensembles. Good thing I work for Shabby Chic!

Pink Dress

This weekends project was Built by Wendy Pattern 3692. I would highly reccomend
this pattern to any beginner, no buttons or zippers to deal with. The fabric that I chose
was a pink cotton with silver lurex stripes. Cute in theory but I think this pattern would
benefit from a more drapey fabric, and the option with the long sleeves might be
cuter. I added a belt, shown at waist and at drop waist level. I might do this again in
another fabric, using the long sleeve option, so stay tuned.

Fold over clutch

Make it yourself clutch.

Claire Vivier Clutch

I have been coveting fold over clutches recently, especially the above Clare Vivier beauty.
I found a link to this lovely fold over clutch pattern on the Collette blog. Here are the instructions, I am
going to have to make one very soon. Wishing everyone a bright and joyous weekend!

Foam Fest

Today I am sharing a 5K Foam Fest fun run that I participated in a few weeks ago.
Rubyellen over at Cakies was nice enough to let me join her team, Bad to the Foam.
It was so much fun running through mud, a lake and of coarse foam! Lance from our
team made this rad video. Enjoy, and thanks again Rubyellen
and the Bad to the Foam team! Check out more pictures over at Cakies.

Fish Print

Oona this post is for you, finally a picture of myself! Yuck! I was so exited to try the
Built by Wendy pattern 3835 and was slightly disappointed with the result.
First off , I should probably not have attempted silk on my first try but who
can resist a cute fish print? Needless to say the tension gods were not with me.
I think that I might be more successful with a  light weight cotton. Well one thing
is for sure from the looks of the pictures of myself, I desperately
need the attention of a skilled hair professional!

Re-make

Happy Friday friends! Glad to be back home from the fabric show in North Carolina.
Today I am sharing a vintage re-make from the website Blooming Leopold Vintage and Handmade.
I thought that this was a particularly nice modern update to an 80's maxi.
It gives me inspiration to get back to the thrift shops. Click here to see how it was done.
Wishing everyone a lovely sunny weekend!
